Everyone just wanted to go the good parties, hang out with the popular crowd. Not realizing how so much of it wouldn't matter years later. I had a decent high school experience, though far from perfect. But I also saw things that I know must have really hurt people, and I can remember a few "Sophie's". The story alternates between past and present. Back and forth between and Also interspersed throughout the novel are musings from an unknown source. This adds to the mystery. Leaving the reader to guess whose private thoughts they were.
I wanted to know who it was. I had my guesses, but I wasn't even close.
With excellent twist and turns, especially in the second half of the book. The last few chapters so tense that there was no way you could have pried the book out of my hands. I was desperate to know what happened.
Not everyone is who or what they seem.
This was a well-written and fast-paced exciting read. A fantastic debut novel full of mystery and suspense, real world issues, and relatable characters. I thought the ending was surprising and satisfying. I can't wait for more from Laura Marshall! I hate myself for reading such an awful, abominable, horrible I can incorporate even more bad adjectives but this one review won't be enough book.
I'm not such a big fan of romance and this book made me lose hope in romance.

All thanks to the author. Did I just call him an Author? My English classmates write better than him And still we get just pass marks! If my English teacher catch hold of his writing, he will definitely fail in the subject. That I'm sure. And about the story, it is horrid. If you dare to call this stupid story "true love" just face the consequences. Because I can't just sit quietly if I heard that again.
Poor characterisation. Poor language. Yeah, Poor book. My kind request to the author I've to call him that because he had the guts to publish such book. Please do not try to write. Even if you write, no problem. Don't publish it.
Jun 11, Harshul Setiya rated it really liked it. The market has been flooded with young Indian authors churning out bestsellers after bestsellers. To be honest this is my first read by this author though he has written two books before.
The book leaves you with a pleasant feeling after you have completed reading it. The story is about Akash and Aleesha, two youngsters who meet in a discotheque and experience love at first sight. Major portion of the book is about their love story, how it progresses, the proposal, the first kiss, the first fight, the making up etc etc.
The story is about Aleesha and Kritika — Soul sisters cum best friends cum roommates The story is about Akash and Aditya — Best friends till death do us apart. The story is about one night — one incident — that changes the lives of all these people along with their loved ones. You experience the other things that come along with love like hatred, jealousy, insecurity, hurt, anger, passion, joy and loads of other similar things.
I loved the poems which Tamanna had written for Deep for they were too deep and profound. They show how deeply she felt for him which finally turned into an obsession for her. I also admired the way Akash dealt with his relationship issues with Aleesha. The author has managed to create a very good romantic ambience in terms of the description and the language of the book. The flow of the story is very smooth and at places I was smiling reading the romantic lines.
I enjoyed the characters a lot as they seemed to be so relatable. I mean that scene could have done the same or perhaps better without it. Over all a decent read, recommended for people who enjoy light reads and prefer romance as a genre. Feb 27, Sharat Karekaatt rated it did not like it. Sudeep Nagarkar, the author of this fabulous sludge has won Youth Achiever's Award for writing in And I wondered if maybe he did offer his readers something.
If I could remove layers and layers of colorless drab, if I could look beyond some exceptionally uninteresting writing, maybe… just maybe I may find some content… that is making this author a hit.
As I drowned myself in this pages of phenomenally unimaginative work in hopes of finding some content, I found myself being questioned b Sudeep Nagarkar, the author of this fabulous sludge has won Youth Achiever's Award for writing in As I drowned myself in this pages of phenomenally unimaginative work in hopes of finding some content, I found myself being questioned by my own conscience. I mean, how does a story about few twenty year olds living pedantic and uneventful lives make it to the printing press and sell million copies?
How can someone who is getting published be so boring and unimaginative that he uses WhatsApp forwards for quotes and allusions? It started with a friend request is juvenile, dull and a lame novel.
This guy makes Chetan Bhagat seem like Niel Gaiman. The only reason to download this book should be to use it as a support for your wobbly table. Nov 29, AJAY rated it it was ok. Okay kind of Book, I got this book because of the title of the book, since it had a connection to my life. The cover page of the book could have been much better, some kind BBM, FB, WhatsApp symbols, which would have been more eye catching and syncs with the title….
And now coming to the review of the book, all characters are well described at the beginning and a clear story telling. At some point it was very kind of too slow and many scenes were not logical at all. The author had tried to give Okay kind of Book, I got this book because of the title of the book, since it had a connection to my life.
The author had tried to give the smallest details, but at many times he failed and it looked artificial. The effort to makes it humorous also did not work out, but at least very good try by the author. I expected a much better use of language by the author, since this is his third book, but it is only average piece of writing. The twist in the story is very good and the author has managed to describe the emotions very clearly as well. The vocabulary could have been better; over all it can be a good book for the first time readers.
Aug 12, Nitin Ganapule rated it it was ok. Why am I reading such books these days? I couldn't find a love story after reading the entire book, am I lacking something to understand this book or what while every other person seems to be looking this book!
One of the major flaws of the book has to be the narration and the narrator. The best friend of one of the protagonist is narrating the story and even he is fantasizing his best friend's girl..
It Started with a Friend Request
The main story of the book seems not like love story and more of attraction and infatuation.. T Why am I reading such books these days? The side story is worse and hardly believable to the extent it's been portrayed in the book.. Writing is strictly ok and lot of times writing felt unnatural, even the title of the book has no significance at all.
No characters will remain in your heart after reading the book and you won't be emotional too, hence the book is a let down.. Dec 28, Ritika Chhabra rated it liked it Shelves: Such books do exist!
I can't believe it, but I recently read this book for the second time, and trust me, I have now become a fan of the author!! While running my eyes through the pages, I was shocked to find out the way this author had written. And I was like, "Ohmigosh! He has a way with "It Started with a Friend Request! He has a way with the words! It was all so.. I just loved it. And in the end, when I saw what Tammanna did, my reaction was just like, "This man knows a lot".
Because after all, wasn't it what obsessed girls always end up feeling, what they think? Moreover, I found the book so amazing, that I even recommended to a few friends of mine.
The author should thank me, right sir? Apr 30, Arpit Kulshrestha rated it liked it. I finished it too early , too small book. I read , first book of Sudeep nagarkar.
He had too different writing style. Overall I liked the story and the style of story narration. I found too much hindi writing in english I hate this actually. Actual story was too small and all space occupied by long , irritated , unnecessary messages.
In actual, only few people sent more than 5 line message in one time. A good time pass. Not have too much value in terms of a novel. I listened about this book too much so i took this in my reading , not as per my expectations.

Author has mentioned clearly time and again that the antagonist is a private person, doesn't speak much to our heroine, and they have had just minimal encounters with each other. The vocabulary could have been better; over all it can be a good book for the first time readers. But another part of her is morbidly curious Yeah, Poor book. The story doesn't even begin with a friend request! I also admired the way Akash dealt with his relationship issues with Aleesha.
